Attorney Bahrenburg has been practicing law in Connecticut and New York State since 1983. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Hartford  (1969), a Masters of Science in Education from Hofstra University( 1970), A Sixth year ABD in Leadership and Supervision Department from New York University (1979) and a Juris Doctorate from Touro College of Law of the Jacob Fuchsberg Center for Law. ( 1983 ) 

 

He graduated from Touro College of Law Suma Cum Laude, and was the Editor in chief of the Law Review, The outstanding Graduate of the June 1983 class and also the winner of the annual Torts award.  

 

Prior to attending law school he worked as a secondary teacher of English and history in the Great Neck, New York schools and then Chairman of English and reading , and finally coordinator of Language Arts k-12 in the Wantagh, New York Schools.

 

Although his practice has been a varied one, he has mainly concentrated on matters concerning juveniles, (first as a prosecutor for the City of New York in the Office of the Corporation Counsel), as well as not-for-profit governance, special education matters, alternative dispute resolution, agency and government hearings and appeals, including disciplinary and grievance matters, and finally bankruptcy and matrimonial matters.  

 

He has served as an adjunct professor at New York University, Central Connecticut State University, Eastern Connecticut State University, The University of Hartford, and Touro College of Law. Most recently he has served as a full time professor at Southern Connecticut State University teaching in the department of leadership and supervision of their graduate school of education. There he has taught Education Law, Special Education Law, the History and development of IEP’s and their mediation processes. 

 

He has had extensive alternative dispute training and has practiced in that area for over thirty years. As such he has served as a mediator and arbitrator in matrimonial, family, custody, labor and commercial matters. For a period of time he served as a mediator/arbitrator and  hearing officer in the Superior Court in Hartford, Connecticut.
