PATRICIA BAHRENBURG THORNBURY

Patricia Thornbury. Esq. earned her bachelors from The University of Hartford, and her JD from Western New England College of Law. She has been working for and volunteering in not-for-profit enterprises since 1985.   She believes the role of not-for-profits to be crucial in aiding those who because of life’s circumstances need a helping hand. Not for profits play the essential role of filling in the gaps left by government and the for profit world in those institutions who serve programs and individuals in need of alternative assistance. ( music, art, housing, medical and those children and adults with disabilities ) 

  

An information technology consultant for many years, she became a lawyer in 2011.  Her ardency for the importance of the not-for-profit world melded with her legal knowledge has set the course of her career as counselor and consultant for directors and officers of not for profit boards., She has served on the boards of in New York, a special needs foundation; in Delaware, a special needs foundation; in Florida, an equine assisted therapies program; and in Connecticut a residential school for alternative needs learners. 

She has first hand observed the value of proper board administration and diligent governance, through proactive board training, transparency, appropriate and accurate documentation, and strategic planning, all of which lead to informed decision making by well trained and confident stewards.
